May 2009-As leaders of our industy’s technology, Milburn Orchards is now in a pilot program for using Pheromone Disruption. This program releases a mating scent into the orchards so that the male & female “bad bugs” (the ones that are damaging to our fruit crops) cannot find each other to mate. This has no effect on the “good bugs”. This effort eliminates a significant percentage of sprays, time and money, all while protecting and preserving our environment.
